As we are aiming to feed our poultry off the farm with organically grown vegetables, we are trying to produce a small amount of seed supplement for them, for which sunflower seeds appears to be most suited.
The very tall stem is a disadvantage to deal with and requires staking as protection against strong wind. Birds are another problem which calls for netting each head individually before maturity.
It will be an experiment Anne, but I am confident of the outcome.
